How it works
The Sada Bahar Plan, explained plainly
The Sada Bahar Plan (Table-74) is State Life's flagship anticipated endowment. Instead of waiting for maturity, you receive two cash instalments during the term — useful for school fees, a wedding or a business top-up — while cover for the full sum assured continues.
Terms run 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27 or 30 years. Bonuses accrue on the full sum assured for the whole term, and the plan's declared bonus rates are set 25% higher than the ordinary Three Payment Plan.
An accidental death benefit is built in: if death is due to an accident, an additional amount equal to the basic sum assured is paid (subject to State Life's maximum).
- Start
You choose the sum assured and term; premiums begin (yearly, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly).
- ⅓ of term
20% of the sum assured is paid to you in cash. Cover for the full sum assured continues.
- ⅔ of term
Another 20% of the sum assured is paid to you.
- Maturity
The remaining 60% of the sum assured plus every bonus declared over the whole term.
What the policy pays
Benefits, as State Life defines them
- Survival benefit: 20% of the basic sum assured at one-third of the term and 20% at two-thirds.
- At maturity: the remaining 60% of the sum assured plus all accrued bonuses.
- On death during the term: the full basic sum assured plus accrued bonuses, regardless of instalments already taken.
- Accidental death: an additional amount equal to one basic sum assured (subject to a maximum limit).
- If an instalment is left uncollected for six months, a special bonus is added to the policy automatically.
Optional riders: Accidental Death Benefit (ADB) · Term Insurance Rider (TIR) · Accidental Indemnity Benefit (AIB) · Family Income Benefit (FIB) · Waiver of Premium (WP) · Special Waiver of Premium (SWP)

✓ Who it suits
- • Families who want savings discipline but know they will need cash at two points along the way.
- • Parents timing instalments to school and college milestones.
- • Savers who value the built-in accidental death cover.
✗ Who should not buy it
- • Anyone maximising the maturity lump sum — taking 40% early necessarily leaves 60% plus bonuses at the end.
- • Terms under 12 years: the plan does not offer them.

The growth engine
How your money actually grows
Most State Life savings plans are with-profit: each year the corporation values its fund and declares bonuses for participating policyholders — State Life states it distributes 97.5% of its surplus to them. Bonuses attach to your policy and are paid with your sum assured at maturity or with a claim. In 2025, State Life allocated a record PKR 181 billion in profit bonus. Read the numbers →

Before you choose the Sada Bahar Plan
When exactly do I get the Sada Bahar instalments?
At the end of one-third and two-thirds of the term. On a 21-year policy that is after years 7 and 14; on a 15-year policy after years 5 and 10. Each is 20% of the basic sum assured.
Do bonuses still accrue on the money I have taken out?
Yes. Bonuses accrue on the full basic sum assured for the whole term, not on the reduced balance.
What if I don't collect an instalment?
If an instalment is not withdrawn within six months of falling due, State Life adds a special bonus to the policy automatically, and the amount is paid later with the maturity value.
How do Sada Bahar bonus rates compare?
State Life publishes a separate Sada Bahar bonus row, set 25% higher than the standard anticipated endowment rates. Like other plans, the 20-year-and-over term band earns the most.
Is Sada Bahar available in Takaful?
Not under this name. The Tayyab Takaful Savings Plan is the closest Shariah-compliant equivalent; ask us and we will illustrate both.
What is an investment or savings plan?
It is a life-insurance plan that does two jobs at once: it protects your family, and it builds up a savings amount you receive later — on maturity, at retirement, or at a milestone like a child's education. You pay regular premiums and the plan grows over time.
What does your advice cost me?
Nothing. Our consultation is free and we do not charge you a fee. We are paid a standard commission by the insurer when a plan is issued, which is why we will tell you plainly when a plan is not right for you.
