What happened
In May 2026, State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan announced its 2025 results — the strongest in the corporation's history. Total income crossed PKR 640 billion, premium income passed PKR 289 billion, and assets under management reached PKR 2.5 trillion.
The headline that matters most to ordinary families: more than PKR 181 billion was allocated to policyholders as profit bonus, while PKR 224 billion+ was paid out in claims during the same year. New individual life business grew 32% year-on-year to over PKR 40 billion — a sign that new savers keep joining. State Life remains the only insurance corporation in Pakistan with a AAA rating.
Where a profit bonus comes from
Most State Life savings plans are with-profit policies. Each year, the corporation values its fund; when there is a surplus, bonuses are declared for participating policyholders — typically expressed per PKR 1,000 of sum assured.
- Declared bonuses attach to your policy and accumulate over its life.
- They are paid out together with your sum assured at maturity, or to your family with a claim.
- A year of record surplus, like 2025, is what funds a record bonus declaration.
The Sidq Advisors take
A bonus promise is only as good as the institution declaring it. What we look for as advisors is the combination you see in these results: record bonuses and record claims actually paid in the same year. That's the difference between a number in a brochure and money reaching families.
When we compare plans for you, we walk through how bonus rates have applied to each plan and term — so you can see what your projected maturity value is really built on.
Frequently asked questions
What is a profit bonus?
It is a share of State Life's annual surplus given to holders of participating (with-profit) policies, usually declared per PKR 1,000 of sum assured and added to the value of your policy.
Do all policies earn bonuses?
Participating savings and endowment plans do. Pure term or health covers work differently. We confirm the bonus treatment of any plan before you commit.
When do I actually receive the bonus?
Accumulated bonuses are paid with your maturity proceeds, or with the claim amount your family receives — not as yearly cash.
