What happened
In May 2026, FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan (FCEPL) and State Life launched the Dairy Farmers Insurance Program — described as the first structured life insurance program in Pakistan's dairy industry.
The initial phase covers over 1,500 small-scale dairy farmers within FCEPL's network with one-year accidental death and disability insurance at preferential rates. FCEPL's Imran Hussain (Deputy Managing Director & Director Finance) and State Life's Chief Actuary Faisal Mumtaz led the announcement.
Why accident cover, specifically
For a farming household, the earner's ability to work is the family finances. Accidental death and disability cover answers the most immediate risk:
- If the insured farmer dies in an accident, the family receives a payout.
- If a permanent disability stops them from working, the cover responds too.
- Group pricing through FCEPL's network keeps the premium within a smallholder's reach.
